A page-finish! =)

Well, I managed to finish page 17 on Kreimhild a few days ago, so there are just 47 more to go, lol. the page mostly contained the tree and it is as good as done (just a few more stitches on the next page). Apart from that there was some sky to stitch (never did THAT on this project…..) and there will be more sky ahead. I think the next two pages are mostly background and on page 20 or so we will se some more of Kreimhild herself (and I hope I can get there this year!). It was quite nice to stitch because it was a mix of block stitching and confetti =) Here is how she looks like now:

Eventhough I really enjoy stitching her, I decided to pull out Wolf Variant again and finish the page I started. I am part of the Stash, Stitch and Honking Raketeers group on Facebook and there are some competitions during the year. This year I try to take part in most (something I never did before, I mean trying this seriously) and this months competition was to stitch on a project that contains an animal! So Wolf Variant is perfect for this! I already participated with it in the January competition, which was a new start. I’m not confident that I can finish the page this month (currently 2000 stitches to go, but only 5 days), so I will also participate with Wolf Variant in March (theme is “page finish”), lol. Let’s see in how many monthly themes I can fit it!

I completely forgot, there are some new freebies on the Haed site! Most of the old freebies are gone (I think it was because they were quite old and they wanted t check/improve the shading on the freebies) and four new ones appeared.

One of them is a Wall design called QS Undine:

Freebie Undine

It’s such a beautiful piece and goes strict to the stitching list! It’s 250×250, so it’s not that small and I think it will be a stunning piece. Among the “old” freebies was “QS Foxglove Ball” by Aimee Stewart and I am glad I downloaded it some ages ago because I really love it. And one day I will stitch it πŸ˜‰

Long overdue post

Well, it looks like my mojo to blog is still on holiday. But at least I’m stitching, I’m just not blogging about it, but I hope to improve there soon. I have a bit of progress to share an quite a lot of stash I gut over the last months to share and still a bit which has not been captured in pictures by now.

But first of all I hope that all of you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones =)

First up is the first page on Middle Earth. I managed to finish the page by the beginning of this month. I don’t know why this took so long, I didn’t feel like stitching for a few weeks. But here it is:

I’m sorry for the low quality, but I couldn’t find my camera when I took the pic, so I used my phone. I love how this is stitching up and after visiting a hobbit-triple-feature und watching the Lord of the Rings once more (I didn’t have the time to see the double-triple-feature 😦 ) I really feel like stitching some LotR-designs. I’ll maybe pay a visit to Eternal Promise soon.

Today I also finished a page on Yule Angel, which I started at the beginning of this year. The picture could be better, too, but it’s hard to catch the colors when there is no daylight available.

It was quite nice to do some block stitching and I enjoyed the fast progress I made. Maybe I’ll stitch another column, this would mean that half of the top row would be done (it’s 400 stitches wide and I have 189 so far).

I also added a few stitches to QS Theatre of the Absurd. It hast been a WIP for so long and it’s more than half way done, so next years goal is definitely finishing that one. I didn’t take a picture, it’s just 300 stitches I added so far, so I will see if I can add another few until I share it with you.

I guess I haven’t told you about it, but I have a new boxfriend. We are a couple for some 10 weeks now and it (finally) looks promising so far. He has an obsession for Pen and Paper roleplay games and Starwars, so I decided to make a bag to keep his dices (there’s many of them…). I decided to put two starwars designs on it to make it more personal (and I basically had two finishes this month). The stitching is done, but I still need to iron and sew it. I will share a piccie when I am done (which should be during the next days).

Besides Christmas sttiching stuff, I spent my time crotcheting a huge Cthulu for a friend (already gone, so no piccie) and knitting a pair of socks for me (not finished yet, but quite). I’m also doing some fingerless gloves, so I am quite occupied these days.

My new boyfriend got me a daylightlamp for stitching and a kit with an owl design (no piccie yet, it’s still to be taken), so there is more work for me =)

Which brings us to…

I hope I don’t forget about any charts I got lately πŸ˜‰

First up are some Haed charts. Nene Thomas was retired some time ago, so I decided to grab a few charts while they were still available. So I got:

Blue Nocturnebluenocturne

Dragon WitchΒ dragonwitch

Snow Girlsnowgirl

Violet Melodyviolet

and also QS Moon IndigoMoonIndigo

During the 50%off Sale I got 4 additional charts

First is “Wolf variant” by Bente Schlick, which I love so much that I already ordered the missing threads.

Next is Ondine by Martha Dahlig. I really love this one, the pink colors are so vibrant!

Then there is also “Golden Rose” by Cris Ortega

Golden Rose

I even got myself my first Hannah Linn chart. Usually her style is not for me, but I instantly fell in love with the design and colors on “Red Riding Hood

And last but not least, Sovereign of Autumn by Msytic Moon Media, which is an incredibly powerful design

Apart from that I bought a ticket for the annual Christmas Raffle, which means another chart for me! I always thought that the charts coming with the CR were always Quick Stitches, but Suteki is actually 300 stitches wide and nearly 400 stitches high, which is quite huge. I never won the CR and I’m very unlikely to do so this year, but this charts is worth all the tickets I ever bought. The Artwork is by Aimie Stewart and the name seems to be “Suteki”. I think there are still two days left to participate, so hopp forward to the Haed Site and buy a ticket to get her and the chance to win a years full of charts:

Some of you may know that Bev from Love Thy Thread decided to close her business and just bevor her store shut, I decided two more chart from Leonid Afremov. The first one is “Alley by the Lake” and the second one is called “Quiet town”

Alley by the lake Quiet town

There are currently so many designs I want to star because they are all so beautiful and powerful! I would love to stitch Ondine and Sovereign of Autumn at once, but I guess I wont get anything done considering my stitching speed πŸ˜‰ But it’s not about finishing, but about enjoying the process of stitching, right? πŸ˜‰

I fear I lost count of all your blogs. I had some issues with my feed reader, he refused to load all the posts, but then he suddenly came up with posts from a few years ago or decided to load the same post a couple of times. So I got a new one, imported all my feeds to it and that one decided to get all the posts he could find (goes back to 2011). So I just decided to tick the “mark all posts as read” option and will try to follow your blogs from now on πŸ˜‰

I seriously hope to blog again in a few days (or at least in January, this would already be an improvement for me) πŸ˜‰

Starlight =)

Well, this is the long overdue post on Starlight. It was a mixture of no stitching time and therefore no progress to show, bad light (so the pictures I took looked awful) and and then I though “I could as well finish the column before taking a pic”. So time flew by and it’s already the end of May. But at least I have some progress to show now!

Since it has been so long since you saw this one, here is a picture how it looked like last time (when I finished page 1)

And here is how it looks now, 8000 stitches in so far:

There are two and a half columns left on the page and I’m trying to finish them as soon as possible, it would be amazing to get them done in May but I don’t really believe in that πŸ˜‰ But right after finishing this post I’m going to put a few stitches in.
I really need to get a bit done, my mind is already full of new starts. I desperately want to start the large Middle Earth Map (in order to finish it in this life) and I recently got a new chart called “Bilbo Baggins” by Kate Powell.

I have been thinking about starting a black and white for some time now. I have seen gorgeous WIPs which were only black and white and they had stunning detail. And I think it could also be a lot of fun and maybe calming to work with only so few colors (Bilbo has 37) and see what you can achieve with that.
I guess I will order the missing threads for both projects next month and hope to get as much stitching done so I don’t feel so bad making a new start πŸ˜‰
And I need to pick up the YOTA projects, I haven’t touched them since last post…

Well, I guess I should stitch now.

Happy Easter and a page finish and stash

Well, I know this post hast been long overdue, but time just flew by (once again…). I had an exam on April 8th and was very busy learning for it, so I completely forgot to make a post here (but I didn’t get much stitching done anyway). My exam went well and so all the time learning was worth it. BUt right after that my lectures at university began and so I am quite busy again, but I am stitching! So there is actually something to show!

But first I have some more sad news. My second hamster, Emmy, died last Friday. I was very confident that she got over the death of her sister for a while because she startet eating and running around again. But she lost quite a lot of weight during the last month and during the last two weeks she seemed to eat less (I gave her a lot of nuts and sunflower seeds to keep her eating), but during her last days there was hardly any food missing and she finally curled up into a ball, feel asleep and didn’t wake up. I’m just glad that she didn’t suffer to much and just died in her sleep.
But I miss her a lot, looking at her (or her sister) always cheered me up when I felt sad or so. And it’s awfully quiet in here… πŸ˜‰ At least I think that both of them enjoyed a happy life here =)
(And I am already thinking about getting a new hamster…)

But now to something more cheerful! Stitching!
I managed to finish a page on Kreimhild, page 14 is done! =)

I’m very close to finally finishing this row, but I guess I will stitch a page on starlight first. I just feel like working on that one and since my experience is that it is no use working on something when I would rather be working on something else I going to work a page on Starlight and then, who knows, maybe finishing this row?

I have also picked up Theatre, but only once, so there is not much to show. I hope to improve and will share my progress once it is visible (not just 100 x’s). After finish the page on Kreimhild I put Aurora Cabin on the frame so I will have some progress to share for the next YOTA.
And I have also been knitting, whohooooo. I’m still working on that pair of socks I showed last time, not so much change… And I have joined a Mystery KAL. Since it’s a mystery I can’t share pictures until it’s done. I don’t know how this will look like in the end, it’s a circular shawl called “Supernova” and up to now (I’m nearly done with the first clue, so five more to go) it looks great =)

And then I got a few new charts. Bev put up her new website Love Thy Thread and she got some gorgeous artists. If you create a new account you get a 20% discount for your first order (which I used), so maybe you should pay a visit to her site. One of her artists if Leonid Afremov, whose work I absolutely love. I couldn’t help it and bought all three charts that are currently available on the site and I dearly hope that some more are going to be released.
I got Bewitched Park
loneliness ofatumn
The Loneliness of Autumn
And When Dreams Come True
I just love them an feel a certain itch to start one of them in the near future. I just can’t decide which one to go for first!

Apart from that I got the first issue of the New Age Cross Stitch Ezine. Shelly from Tilton Crafts published it and it contains six small charts (Haed, Tilton Crafts, Love Thy Thread, Paine Free Crafts, Color Cascade Fabric&Design). Here is how it looks like

I love the Fairy at the bottom (Love Thy Thread) and the Spanlger Dragon (Haed) and will surely stitch them one day =)

I hope you all enjoy(ed) a great weekend.
Happy easter stitching =)

Eternal Promise, Yule Angel, stash and some knitting

It has been ages since I posted (I guess I was aiming for a one-post-per-week thing, but it somehow didn’t work out…I’m not that surprised… πŸ˜€ ) But now, we have an update and it’s going to be picture heavy πŸ˜‰

First up are some stitching updates. I have done further work on Eternal Promise and I love how it turns out. But working on 28ct is really hard. It’s fine during the day when I can work with natural light, but it’s terrible to work on during the evenings. After stitching on this for one or two hours I am exhausted and I lost my mojo for some time. So I decided to put this down after working the first five columns. I will try and pick this up again when the days are getting brighter again (or I have more time to stitch during the day). Here is what I got so far, you can see, the coverage is amazing!

After my decision to put down Eternal Promise I picked up Yule Angel again. I haven’t done so much work on it, just one more column so far, but it stitches up quickly and helps my stitchy bug feel comfortable around here once more πŸ˜‰ So, here are some violet and dark blue colors for you:
The big plan is to stick with this until page 4 is done and then take out Kreimhild again.

Next up on the agenda are my stash-additions. I have purchased some tons of yarn because I still can’t help knitting socks all the time, but didn’t take a picture so far. Maybe I will do so once I can catch good light.
But I can show you some charts I got.
First I want to announce that Bridget Taverner is going to be retired as of 6th March. You can take a look at her work here . In case you like something, there is a 35% sale these days! πŸ˜‰
I took a chance to grab “White reindeer family”, which I have been looking at for some time:

The second chart I got is “The Madonna in Sorrow” by Zindy Nielsen. I just love that owl (and her eyes).
The Madonna In Sorrow

Last but not least I have some knitting to show you. As I told before, I am kind of addicted to knitting socks. I spent the last weeks knitting baby socks which are being sent to Bolivia these days (there is a lovely lady who collects socks and other things once a year to sent them over to be given to children in need). Since I am done with that I am working down a list of various people who want some socks. First up is a friend of my who gets a colorful pair of socks:
The yarn is called “Wartende HΓ€user” and is from the “Hundertwasser”-series by Opal. I love this series, they are inspired by paintings by Friedrich Hundertwasser and are all very colorful. I made the pattern up by myself, it’s a simple slip-stitch pattern but I think it looks nice and makes knitting more interesting.
But now I a off so I will get these socks finished.

Happy craftig =)

Das Rheingold

I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and Santa brought you a big bunch of stichy stuff and free time πŸ˜‰
I didn’t have much time for stitching during the last weeks (preparations for Christmas and so on), so the fourth page on Rheingold is not done yet. But there are just two columns left to stitch πŸ˜‰ I guess I will have another page finish this year πŸ˜‰
As you can see, most of the “R” and the “H” are done and you can see the snake appear beneath the “H” =) The snake is quite confetti heavy but I love how it turns out.
Since it has been a long time since you saw this piece, here is how it looked like last time – that was more than a year ago!

and now

Sometimes I think I have to many WIPs, I would love to work on all my projects at once, but there is so little time… So it makes perfect sense to me that I am kitting up for a new year start πŸ˜€ Maybe it will help me feel better about not getting anything done πŸ˜€

And just in case I will one day run out of projects, I got myself two charts in the current SAL (as a little Christmay present…)

The first one is called “Nuakas” (or “Night and Day”) by M. C. Escher.

The second is “The Gift” by Matt Stewart. I watched the second Hobbit movie (and loved it!) last week and watched the Lord of the Rings (well, actually only the first two movies, special extended version) during Christmas, so I couldn’t help getting another LotR chart… If only I could be an elf…. Then there would actually be a chance for me to finish all this one day……

I hope to be back with a page finish soon πŸ˜‰

A page finish! =)

I planned on posting during the weekend but I somehow forgot about it… Last weekend was IHSW and I really did some hermiting and stitching, at least on Saturday. I managed to finish the first page on Starlight and another column on Theatre then. Things are calming down a bit now so there is more time for stitching. =)

Well this is how Starlights first page looks now, in all it’s glory:

I got used to all the confetti in the end and I just love how this turns out. I put it aside for now to work on my other projects (they are in great need for some love).

Apart from that I managed to stitch two more columns on Theatre, half of page 3 is now done. I’m not so sure if I can finish this page by the end of the month but I will do my best πŸ˜‰

At least, there is less confetti on this page (well, except for the jokers head, that which was full of confetti…), so I’m getting along with it quite well…

When I took Starlight off the frame I decided to take out a project which I haven’t worked on for to long: Rheingold! I’m currently working on the “R” and I love it =) Seeing those beautiful letters appear is so wonderful and motivating and the amount of confetti is fine. But I haven’t taken a pic yet because I only stitched some 200 stitches. But a pic will follow =)

Well, since you can never have enough charts, I got another one from Painefreecrafts called “Forest King“. You know, I just love Lord of the Rings (and I am already very excited about the next Hobbit movie, therefore my desire to by LOTR charts increases….)

But I guess I should go and check some blogs now and do some stitching… Otherwise I will never get anything finished πŸ˜‰

Happy stitching =)
