WIPocalypse February

Well, as I a already said, I’m going to join WIPocalypse again this year =)

I guess my last WIPocalypse post was back in 2013, when I lost my blogging mojo and didn’t continue to post.

This time I try to increase my blogging rate by joining a few events and WIPocalypse is one of them. For those who found my blog through the event and don’t know me, here is a small introduction since I just got on the train and didn’t do an introduction in January.

My name is Johanna and I am from Germany. I am 23 years old (it was my birthday two weeks ago) and I am currently doing my Master degree in Mathematics. I have one exam left and I am writing my master thesis, so I am pretty busy, but the end is in sight and I hope to get started on my Phd soon. I have been stitching for about 4 1/2 years and I started blogging about 4 years ago. I usually do Haeds, but I also have a few kits (mostly dimensions gold). Apart from stitching I like to knit or read. I guess I am going to introduce all my projects as I go along, but I also created a page for this event where my projects are listed.

This months theme is How do you overcome that feeling that you’re in a rut with a particular project?

Well, I usually rotate between my projects. Since I switched to parking, this is a lot easier. I can easily switch from one project to another whenever I am at the end of a column. When I loose my mojo to work on one project, I just switch to another and retry some time later. I just hope that a bit of change will make things better and that usually works for me =)

I already worked on three of my WIPocalypse projects this year and I am very happy about my progress. I did about 6100-6200 stitches in January and hope to continue with this speed.

First up is Yule Angel by Anne Stokes, I stitched the first two columns on page 4:

Before (at the end of December): YA1000

And after: YuleAngel12

Next is a new start called “Wolf Variant” by Bente Schlick. I stitched the first half of page 1 and I plan to finish this page in February:

And last but not least, my current project: Kreimhilds Revenge by Howard David Johnson. I haven’t touched her in a while, last time you could witness a row finish. This is the first half of page 17 and I want to finish that page this month:

And After: 43

I’ll do a full shot of her when I finish the page =) I really love the detail in the trees, it’s a nice mix of block and confetti stitching.

Long overdue post

Well, it looks like my mojo to blog is still on holiday. But at least I’m stitching, I’m just not blogging about it, but I hope to improve there soon. I have a bit of progress to share an quite a lot of stash I gut over the last months to share and still a bit which has not been captured in pictures by now.

But first of all I hope that all of you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones =)

First up is the first page on Middle Earth. I managed to finish the page by the beginning of this month. I don’t know why this took so long, I didn’t feel like stitching for a few weeks. But here it is:

I’m sorry for the low quality, but I couldn’t find my camera when I took the pic, so I used my phone. I love how this is stitching up and after visiting a hobbit-triple-feature und watching the Lord of the Rings once more (I didn’t have the time to see the double-triple-feature 😦 ) I really feel like stitching some LotR-designs. I’ll maybe pay a visit to Eternal Promise soon.

Today I also finished a page on Yule Angel, which I started at the beginning of this year. The picture could be better, too, but it’s hard to catch the colors when there is no daylight available.

It was quite nice to do some block stitching and I enjoyed the fast progress I made. Maybe I’ll stitch another column, this would mean that half of the top row would be done (it’s 400 stitches wide and I have 189 so far).

I also added a few stitches to QS Theatre of the Absurd. It hast been a WIP for so long and it’s more than half way done, so next years goal is definitely finishing that one. I didn’t take a picture, it’s just 300 stitches I added so far, so I will see if I can add another few until I share it with you.

I guess I haven’t told you about it, but I have a new boxfriend. We are a couple for some 10 weeks now and it (finally) looks promising so far. He has an obsession for Pen and Paper roleplay games and Starwars, so I decided to make a bag to keep his dices (there’s many of them…). I decided to put two starwars designs on it to make it more personal (and I basically had two finishes this month). The stitching is done, but I still need to iron and sew it. I will share a piccie when I am done (which should be during the next days).

Besides Christmas sttiching stuff, I spent my time crotcheting a huge Cthulu for a friend (already gone, so no piccie) and knitting a pair of socks for me (not finished yet, but quite). I’m also doing some fingerless gloves, so I am quite occupied these days.

My new boyfriend got me a daylightlamp for stitching and a kit with an owl design (no piccie yet, it’s still to be taken), so there is more work for me =)

Which brings us to…

I hope I don’t forget about any charts I got lately 😉

First up are some Haed charts. Nene Thomas was retired some time ago, so I decided to grab a few charts while they were still available. So I got:

Blue Nocturnebluenocturne

Dragon Witch dragonwitch

Snow Girlsnowgirl

Violet Melodyviolet

and also QS Moon IndigoMoonIndigo

During the 50%off Sale I got 4 additional charts

First is “Wolf variant” by Bente Schlick, which I love so much that I already ordered the missing threads.

Next is Ondine by Martha Dahlig. I really love this one, the pink colors are so vibrant!

Then there is also “Golden Rose” by Cris Ortega

Golden Rose

I even got myself my first Hannah Linn chart. Usually her style is not for me, but I instantly fell in love with the design and colors on “Red Riding Hood

And last but not least, Sovereign of Autumn by Msytic Moon Media, which is an incredibly powerful design

Apart from that I bought a ticket for the annual Christmas Raffle, which means another chart for me! I always thought that the charts coming with the CR were always Quick Stitches, but Suteki is actually 300 stitches wide and nearly 400 stitches high, which is quite huge. I never won the CR and I’m very unlikely to do so this year, but this charts is worth all the tickets I ever bought. The Artwork is by Aimie Stewart and the name seems to be “Suteki”. I think there are still two days left to participate, so hopp forward to the Haed Site and buy a ticket to get her and the chance to win a years full of charts:

Some of you may know that Bev from Love Thy Thread decided to close her business and just bevor her store shut, I decided two more chart from Leonid Afremov. The first one is “Alley by the Lake” and the second one is called “Quiet town”

Alley by the lake Quiet town

There are currently so many designs I want to star because they are all so beautiful and powerful! I would love to stitch Ondine and Sovereign of Autumn at once, but I guess I wont get anything done considering my stitching speed 😉 But it’s not about finishing, but about enjoying the process of stitching, right? 😉

I fear I lost count of all your blogs. I had some issues with my feed reader, he refused to load all the posts, but then he suddenly came up with posts from a few years ago or decided to load the same post a couple of times. So I got a new one, imported all my feeds to it and that one decided to get all the posts he could find (goes back to 2011). So I just decided to tick the “mark all posts as read” option and will try to follow your blogs from now on 😉

I seriously hope to blog again in a few days (or at least in January, this would already be an improvement for me) 😉

Eternal Promise, Yule Angel, stash and some knitting

It has been ages since I posted (I guess I was aiming for a one-post-per-week thing, but it somehow didn’t work out…I’m not that surprised… 😀 ) But now, we have an update and it’s going to be picture heavy 😉

First up are some stitching updates. I have done further work on Eternal Promise and I love how it turns out. But working on 28ct is really hard. It’s fine during the day when I can work with natural light, but it’s terrible to work on during the evenings. After stitching on this for one or two hours I am exhausted and I lost my mojo for some time. So I decided to put this down after working the first five columns. I will try and pick this up again when the days are getting brighter again (or I have more time to stitch during the day). Here is what I got so far, you can see, the coverage is amazing!

After my decision to put down Eternal Promise I picked up Yule Angel again. I haven’t done so much work on it, just one more column so far, but it stitches up quickly and helps my stitchy bug feel comfortable around here once more 😉 So, here are some violet and dark blue colors for you:
The big plan is to stick with this until page 4 is done and then take out Kreimhild again.

Next up on the agenda are my stash-additions. I have purchased some tons of yarn because I still can’t help knitting socks all the time, but didn’t take a picture so far. Maybe I will do so once I can catch good light.
But I can show you some charts I got.
First I want to announce that Bridget Taverner is going to be retired as of 6th March. You can take a look at her work here . In case you like something, there is a 35% sale these days! 😉
I took a chance to grab “White reindeer family”, which I have been looking at for some time:

The second chart I got is “The Madonna in Sorrow” by Zindy Nielsen. I just love that owl (and her eyes).
The Madonna In Sorrow

Last but not least I have some knitting to show you. As I told before, I am kind of addicted to knitting socks. I spent the last weeks knitting baby socks which are being sent to Bolivia these days (there is a lovely lady who collects socks and other things once a year to sent them over to be given to children in need). Since I am done with that I am working down a list of various people who want some socks. First up is a friend of my who gets a colorful pair of socks:
The yarn is called “Wartende Häuser” and is from the “Hundertwasser”-series by Opal. I love this series, they are inspired by paintings by Friedrich Hundertwasser and are all very colorful. I made the pattern up by myself, it’s a simple slip-stitch pattern but I think it looks nice and makes knitting more interesting.
But now I a off so I will get these socks finished.

Happy craftig =)

WIPocalypse September

Well it has been ages since I made a WIPocalypse post, I nearly forgot about it… but I wanted to share a few pictures anyway… I need to flip back a few pages to find my last post, that was back in April!
So this post is going to be picture-heavy…

First up is the Freebie SAL piece which I picked up again. I’m very eager to finish the first page soon, 1600 stitches to got for that!
Here is the last time (non-WIPocalypse) you saw it, back in May

And here it is now, well a few days ago, I added some 400 stitches since then… I stitched the missing row of the page (and two line of page three so the 10×10 square was complete)

Next up is Kreimhild, on which I haven’t worked since my break up, but I guess I will try and pick her up soon. Anyway I want to post her once more because her face is so pretty, I love to look at it (and it motivates me to pick her up soon….)

Third on the list is Starlight, I decided to add it 😉 It’s very confetti-heavy, so progress is slow, but the result is amazing… I think Michele outdid herself with this one. 3200 stitches so far:

Well, there is also Yule Angel, which got a lot of love lately and will surely get more soon: Exactly 12000 stitches!

And last but not least I want to share a picture of A Midsummer Nights Dream again because I love it!

This post could be over now and definitely would be if I were a good girl, but HAED has another sale… (thank god the last one before Christmas… So many gorgeous charts released lately….) But I only got a QS, which I just fell in love with! Will go to the frame once Theatre is done (so it will take a while…)

Anyway, here is QS Trapped by Mélanie Delon

QS Trapped

Well, I’ll put a few stitches in now…
Happy stitching =)

A finish!! =)

I’m a bit late with blogging (again…) and I am sorry for that, time just flies by and I am very busy these days. It’s funny, the more I have to work, the more I stitch. I somehow manage to get more stitches in after a long day than on a free days… Well, not always more stitches, but my stitches-per-hour-count kind of explodes some days…

Anyway, I have a finish to share. It’s QS A Midsummer Nights Dream, which I introduced a few weeks back. I put in the last stitches on Thursday Night (?) and I love how it turned out.

It’s a small freebie, just 75×89 stitches, but I think it’s cute and it’s still a finish, right? It’s stitched on 25ct Lugana evenweave as usual. I guess I will try to get the SAL piece back on the Qsnap in the next days, I feel ready to face it (but I am not hoping for a finish this year..).

Apart from that QS I worked on Yule Angel. I think about one third of page 3 is done, here is how it looks now:

It’s going to rest for a while now because I decided to join the Secret Santa event from the Stash, Stitch and Honking Raketeers group on facebook. I guess the original idea was to work ones SAL piece, but I didn’t join their SAL at the beginning of this year, so I made a new start. I will post a pic at the weekend (I have to catch good light…).

I’ll really do my best to make a post during the weekend 😉

Until then,
Happy stitching =)

Yule Angel page 2! =)

Well, I planned on posting a few days earlier but I was so close to a page finish on Yule Angel that I decided to wait until I’m done with it. I love the colors on this one and I enjoy that it is quite easy to stitch (a lot of block stitching, I already used up one skin of 939). It looks like that light bulb above her head will make an appearance on the next page, so maybe a few more colors will turn up then. But before I continue, here is my progress

Right now I feel like continuing with this one, so I guess I will make a start on page 3 today.
Apart from that I have been stitching on QS A Midsummer Nights Dream and I am nearly done with it. It’s just one and a half columns left to stitch and they don’t have so much confetti (which doesn’t mean that there is non, so it will still take a few days), so I guess that my next post here will be a finish =) After that, my big plan is to pick up the Haed SAL piece again and see how I can get along with it.

Apart form stitching I have spent my time working on my Bachelor thesis and I am nearly done! A friend of mine is reading it right now and then I will have one or two other people check the spelling and then I will hand it in 😉 I plan to reward myself with a new start then, but I am not sure if I can wait that long, lol….
I decided to get the remaining threads for Starlight, which is two colors! I thought that maybe I could just pick them up in a local store, because ordering just two colors doesn’t make much sense in my eyes. But then I noticed that the shop I wanted to get them from demands 1,20 €!!! If I order my threads online I pay 0,45 € or so… I don’t get why DMC is so expensive around here… Well, this made me order a few more threads and a bunch of needles along with those two colors, so they don’t feel so lonely on their way to me 😉
I ordered 20 size 28 needles because they are hard to get around here… A lady in a shop once told me that they didn’t exist…. hahaha….

Well, I’m going to get back to stitching now, since my friend is currently reading my thesis and I have nothing left to do, I seem to have a free weekend, wohooooo! I already managed to get some 850 stitches done yesterday 😉

A huge “Sorry” to all blogger-bloggers out there, I somehow have trouble commenting, I always get an error… I tried various times over a few days, but it didn’t work… I hope the problem will be solved soon, so I can comment on your posts again. In the meantime I can only say that I love all your stitching =)

Happy stitching and a great Sunday to all of you =)

Moving on

Mhm, it looks like it has been two months since I posted…. Where did the time go? I feel a bit guilty because I have not posted or commented in such a long time, but I just needed the time to sort things out. Thank you for the lovely comments you made on my last entry, they truly built me up =)
I have moved in the middle of June and by now it actually looks like a place where a person could live here. A bit of furniture is still missing and a few things haven’t found their place yet, but I feel comfortable. Some days, especially in the evenings, I feel lonely , I just want someone to talk to or someone to hug, but I guess that will get better in time. Getting a giant cuddly giraffe by the name of Sophus Lie definitely helps with that 😉
As for my feelings I can say, that I am feeling a bit better. Let’s say that Paul found a good way to make me not miss him anymore…….. I’m happy that I have my place now and that he is gone… Being single again is fine for me now, whenever I feel the slightest hint of anything for a guy I just want to run away until it’s gone, so I guess I need some more time for myself 😉
I have been very busy with university stuff the last weeks, I’m still working on my Bachelor thesis, which will hopefully be ready soon. The good thing about this is, that I just didn’t have the time to feel that miserable 😉
As fo stitching… Well, I’m doing it again! I made a small new start called “QS A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (AMSND) , which is a Haed-Freebie Michele shared via facebook some months ago. It’s just one page, so it’s a really quick QS… The size is 75×89 (I guess?) and I am already halfway through:

So I will soon have a finish, yay! I started this because I didn’t feel like starting something huge, I needed something I could actually finish 😉 The BAP-newstarts are coming soon, so don’t worry 😉 I don’t know when I started this, but it must have been July by then…
Another few weeks ago I felt the urge to stitch on Yule Angel (haha, a Christmas chart while it’s terrible hot in Germany… or was, it’s better now), just a few easy stitches, less confetti than AMSND…I already stitched down one skin of 939 (ok, I’m using the same dye lot for Rheingold, you may remember that I bought 15 skins from the same dye lot some ages ago…) I’m currently 8100 stitches into this, so just some 2000 stitches left of page 2. This means that a page finish is close, too, so double-yay!
So here is how my Angel looked last time you saw her

And now:

As for my yearly goals… I decided to drop them… I’m very happy that I found my love for stitching again, even if I have not been able to pick up my YOTA pieces again (way to many memories connected to them…..). I just don’t want to push things now, I’m a bit worried that I might lose my stitchy bug again. So I’m working on the projects I feel like and see what I will get done. I just want to try and pick all my projects up once this year.
I guess I will have a few new starts in the near future, I feel like starting things these days, so I will just do it. One project is “Noble Spirit” by Jody Bergsma, I have the threads here, but I need to wind a few more before I can start. I love the design, but I don’t know when I will start it.
Another one is a new chart I just got a few days ago (I could not help it, I just fell in love).
It’s called “Starlight” by David Hoffrichter, who is quite new to HAED.
Let’s just say that there was a 53%-sale…. 😉

Another addition to my stash is “Ice Palace” by Ciro Marchetti. I got this from the one and only wonderful Crafty Princess Alicia to cheer me up! You are so sweet honey, one day I will be more than happy to return the favor!
Ice Palace

The last addition to my stash is “The Wylde Hunt” by Sandra SanTara
It looks that I will stitch my futre husband then ;-D…

Well, I don’t know what else to say right now… I’m spending my days with maths, stitching and a lot of reading… I’m just trying to move on these days… It feels weird, but I think I can do it. I don’t need a guy to know who I am and what I am capable of, I am able to live on my own. I have said things like “I can’t do that” many time during the last 12 weeks, but I could and here I am, stronger than ever.
I hope I will post more often now, maybe I will be able to get back to posting weekly again… But I won’t push it 😉

Until then,
Happy stitching =)
